Everyone knows COAF is focused on excellence and educating children in the rural villages of Armenia, but what about rural educators? “Empowering Rural Teachers” was a year-long teacher development program. During which the participating teachers were given development opportunities through an intensive English language course.
The “Empowering Rural Learners” program included weekly fun and interactive sessions such as role playing, debates, film viewing and reading English texts to give the participants the chance to utilize the English language to their fullest extent. As well as, interactions with a fluent English speaker in a non-academic setting.
On March 29th, 2017 a closing ceremony was held for both educators and students within the program to showcase their successes. Eight English teachers from the Armavir and Aragatsavan regions as well as students who were members of the English club were in attendance. As well as, Ester Hakobyan, COAF Program Director, and Arevik Saribekyan, British Council Armenia Director. The event was organized by the British Council Armenia and Children of Armenia Fund.
